The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center will be the place to celebrate Veterans Day 2026 and honor the veterans of Southeast North Carolina with a weekend of music, history, remembrance, and community. The Veterans Day weekend begins Friday, November 6, with a 1940s-style USO Show & Dance, followed by a special WWII memorabilia exhibit on Friday and Saturday. The weekend concludes Saturday afternoon with the 5th Annual Salute to African American Veterans.
Step back in time with USO Through the Years, a lively musical journey celebrating the timeless tradition of USO entertainment. The show will feature the sounds of the 1940s, hit songs, famous performers, and unforgettable dances, directed by Blake Carter and hosted by Kathy Enlow. The cast features familiar faces from Thalian Association Main Stage and Youth Theatre productions.
The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with a free swing dance lesson from the Cape Fear Swing Dance Society. The USO Show begins at 7:30 p.m., with dancing continuing until 10:00 p.m.
Presented by AARP, American Legion Post 10, the Southeast North Carolina Veterans Day Parade Committee, Wilmington Brewing Company, and Thalian Association Community Theatre, the event honors the men and women who have served our country. Wine, beer, and concessions will be available, with all proceeds benefiting the Historic USO Building Preservation Fund.
