Anevay (uh-nee-vay) Dance Program is specially designed to provide all interests ages 3 and up with the ability to not only learn but master the art, meaning and skill of dance while instilling discipline to help build the human mental, social and physical psyche to create new and beautiful dancers.
Anevay Dance directors and instructors are not only teachers but life skills educators. They will relate all dance movement and character to everyday qualities/actions that a student may experience on a natural basis. All students will be able to identify and demonstrate movement while understanding the choreographic principles, processes and structures of the art. They will be able to understand the art of dance as a way to create and communicate meaning as well as demonstrate and understand the connection with various cultures, healthful living and other dance disciplines. All Anevay instructors guide the students to go above & beyond what they feel they know. They will not only prepare your child/children to perform in the art world of dance but function in life and conquer anything they may encounter in the most positive way. Anevay dancers are noble, creative and energetic artists at all times and in all ways. Anevay dedicates the program to the students.
THE HISTORY: FOUNDER & CEO, DANCE DIRECTOR
A mother of two and spouse of First Class Petty Officer Kaz Muhammad is a 31-year old native of Bloomfield, NJ whom holds a Morgan State University B.S. in Communications-TV/Film Production, Event & Wedding Planning Certification, Advanced Youth Development Certification, Dance Educators of America Certification and has 15 years’ experience in dance instruction as well as a total of 28 years’ experience in dance. Although she attended Marie Wildey School of Dance in East Orange, NJ for 10 years, she considers herself a self-taught dancer. Ever since the age of 3, dance has been her heart, her soul, her passion. She specializes in tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, liturgical and ballet. From the age of 12, Charita has been a chosen choreographer for various non-profit organizations (i.e. Unchained Talent Inc. After School Program, sororities), private schools, churches and random groups of children/teens/adults. Throughout her dance career, she has participated in 15 dance recitals, 3 competitions, and received 26 awards. But that was just the beginning. She always wanted to start a program where students could learn and master all aspects in dance while enjoying it. Therefore, she founded the Anevay Dance Program. The name “anevay” derives from the Native American meaning for “superior.”
The Anevay Dance Program is specially designed to provide all interests ages 3 and up with the ability to not only learn but master the art, meaning and skill of dance while instilling discipline to help build the human mental, social and physical psyche to create new and beautiful dancers. This program offers various dance classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, salsa, acrobatics/tumbling and liturgical which are all classified under different levels. All classes are structured by age so the director and team coach, Mrs.Charita Muhammad, can observe each student so she can place him/her in the correct level class. The classes are constructed to expose the students to fun dance choreography, high levels of energy, good health increased flexibility, and rhythm (of course!). In each class, the students will be taught stretch exercises, floor exercises and dance routines. The stretch and floor exercises are to help build the students muscle frame to be able to tolerate the instructed routine. Therefore, injury prevention is definitely implemented within the program. Classes are in session 3 days per week/per month for about 60-120 minutes each practice, but each group has a different time. Although classes will vary in time, they do not vary in price. All in all, the dance education the student will receive will be great and unforgotten. In completion of this program, the student will receive a certificate and/or trophy, performance in recital, and a group dance class photo with 2 individual photos. In conclusion, this program will definitely guarantee the student/parent/guardian their monies worth and more.
