Willy Wonka Jr Adapted for the stage by Leslie Bricusse & Timothy Allen McDonald Lyrics and Music by Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley Based on the book, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences. |

When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home…and find herself along the way. As she travels through Wonderland, she encounters all of the iconic characters that audiences have come to love: including the ever-tardy White Rabbit, the grinning Cheshire Cat, a cool Caterpillar, the wacky Mad Hatter, and the hot-tempered Queen of Hearts. Thalian Association Community Theatre has very special plans for the 4th show of the 2024-2025 Youth Theatre season. Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. will feature an all-rookie cast with all seats for the six public performances free to the public on a first come basis. Our goal is to make the magic of live theatre accessible to all families to experience together! The production performed on the 2nd Street Stage at the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, Mar. 7 – 16, 2025. Shows are scheduled Fri. – Sat. at 7:30 pm with Sun. matinees at 3:00 pm. The all-rookie production will give youth who have never been cast in a Thalian Association production the chance to participate in a Youth Theatre show. All roles are available for ages 7 through high school senior. A special how-to video and flyer explaining the audition process will be distributed to area youth organizations with audition workshops scheduled at a few designated locations. Dates and locations will be announced later. Free tickets will first be available to area youth organizations in January then open to everyone on a first come basis February 17th, tickets can be reserved at 910-251-1788 or thalian.org. In addition to the six public shows, two daytime school performances will be offered with teaching resources to support classroom learning. |
