Step back in time and experience the music that uplifted a nation during World War II when the Benny Hill Quartet presents a special World War II USO Jazz Concert on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center.
Co-sponsored by the World War II Wilmington Home Front Heritage Coalition and the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, this nostalgic evening celebrates America’s 250th anniversary through the unforgettable sounds of the Swing Era. Guests will enjoy live jazz, dancing, wine, beer, and light refreshments in the very building that once welcomed servicemen and women during World War II.
Led by Wilmington jazz icon Benny Hill, the quartet will perform classics made famous by legendary bandleaders including Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, and other artists whose music captivated Americans on the home front during the 1930s and 1940s.
Benny Hill holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Master of Music degree from Northern Illinois University. An adjunct professor at Cape Fear Community College, Hill has performed for more than two decades in a wide range of musical settings, from orchestra pits and cruise ships to concert halls and festivals across the United States and abroad.
