Counselor and Instructors Summer 2020
|Karly Andreassen – Instructor – Karly Andreassen is a recent graduate from Vassar College, where she completed a double-major in Latin American Studies and Studio Art. Her mediums of choice are oil painting and textiles, and she enjoys incorporating many ideas from different disciplines and crafts into her work. Karly has a passion for highlighting the beauty we encounter in our daily lives and takes special care to document the underrepresented experiences of her life as a Dominican-American in order to celebrate them. Karly is also a video game developer and loves finding new and creative ways to share complicated ideas through advancements in technology.

|Kaite Auletti-Smith – Instructor – My name is Katie Auletti-Smith and I am so excited to be teaching the choreography for Broadway on Second Street for a 6th year. I have been teaching/instructing dance classes for 12 years and I am Carolina Dance Masters certified. I love to teach kids of all ages and there is nothing better than watching a child’s face light up when they have accomplished something new.

|Rebekah Carmichael – Instructor – Rebekah Carmichael is a producer, performer and playwright residing in Wilmington. As she is new in town, her credits are limited, but she can’t help but be proud of receiving the Wilmington Theatre Award for the 2018 Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Medium Alison in Fun Home. Prior to this, she has produced immersive theatre in Raleigh and Asheville, performed in the same cities as well as in a variety of straight plays and musicals in Washington DC and New York City, and is regularly seeing her written work performed in small theatre settings.

|Courtney Harding – Instructor – Hello Campers! My name is Courtney Harding, and this is my 6th year as an instructor at Creative Arts Camp. I grew up in the area with a true passion for theatre! I was even a camper here in this building when I was younger! I’m now a theatre teacher at New Hanover High School by day and an actor/stage manager/director by night! I look forward to sharing my love of theatre with you all and can’t wait to get things started!!

|Caleb Hector – Counselor – Hey everyone! I am very excited to be a counselor this summer! I started out attending the camps in the summer of 2016 and I loved it so much that I came back every summer until I became a Jr. counselor last summer in 2019. Through the camp, I found out about the theatre community and fell in love with performing. I can’t wait to see everyone!!|
|Samantha Herrick – Camp Director and Instructor – I am thrilled about my 6th year at Creative Arts Camp! Summer Camp is my FAVORITE time of year! I hope that campers will have fun through creative expression and learn to love the arts just like I do! |Lance Howell – Instructor – Lance L. Howell is a Wilmington native, contributing over 30 years to theater and film, in Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina, Lance is a theatrical designer specializing in makeup, hair, set, costume design, as well as, show and pageant lighting. Lance also serves as the Technical Director for the HBHUSO/CAC, as well as Technical Advisor for the Thalian Association Community Theater. Lance was a StarNews WilmingtonTheater Award nominee for Best Costumer, for his design of the Thalian Associations 2013 production of Xanadu, set design for The Mercy Seat and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, both in 2017, Bridges of Madison a County 2018 and was awarded the Best Actor award for lead actor in a play, as Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, by the Thalian Association in 2015. His last endeavor was Director and Scenic Designer of this seasons A Christmas Carol, the Musical.

|Kelsey McCrary – Counselor and Instructor -My name is Kelsey McCrary and I am so excited to be apart of the Creative Arts Camp staff this year! I am a recent high school graduate and will be attending Meredith College as a freshman this fall! I am so excited to get to know and spend time with the campers this summer! I can’t wait to see and help them grow as performers!

|Anamarie Neville – Instructor – Anamarie Neville is a local teacher, originally brought to Wilmington by her educational pursuits. She earned a BA with Honors in Elementary Education and M. Ed. in K-12 Literacy and Language from UNCW. She is passionate about literacy, engineering, and arts education. Anamarie is an avid reader, lover of all things Disney, and believer in the power of kindness. She is thrilled to be joining the Creative Arts Camp team!

|Georgie Simon – Instructor – I am so excited for my first summer at Creative Arts Camp! I moved to Wilmington in 2018 from New York. I have had a passion for theatre since I was five years old and have experience as a performer, director, general manager, and stage manager. You may have seen me in Thalian Association’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as the Narrator and Elf the Musical as Deb, the wacky secretary. Most recently, I won the Star News Wilmington Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Lizzie the Musical. I can’t wait to make some magic with my campers this summer!

|Noelle Smith – Counselor – Noelle Smith is so excited to be a part of the Creative Arts Camp team! Noelle has been doing theatre in Wilmington for 10 years. You might have seen her in Alice in Wonderland as Alice, Mamma Mia as Sophie at Ashley High School, and Godspell as a featured soloist. Noelle has also plays Anna and the Unicorn Princess for a party company! Noelle can’t wait for this experience and share the love of theatre with young minds!|
|Stacie Smith – Assistant Camp Director and Instructor- My name is Stacie Smith and I am so excited to be back at Creative Arts Camp again this year. Camp is my favorite place to be during the summer, except for the beach! I have lots of experience working in the Wilmington Theater Community, both being onstage and behind it. I can’t wait to meet all our new campers and to see some familiar faces. See you all this summer!

|Cathy Street – Instructor – This is my 5th summer at Creative Arts Camp and I am so excited to be back! When I was 11, I started performing in the arts and it changed my life so arts education has always been incredibly important to me. I was shy and performing helped me find my voice and a way to express myself and I am passionate about inspiring others to do the same. I believe in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for young people to develop their skills. I live in Wilmington with my husband, JJ, and two ‘kids’; pug, Alex, and Siamese cat, Raja. |Josh Zieseniss- Full Time Counselor and Instructor – My name is Josh, this is my third year with Creative Arts Camp and I am ecstatic to be back!. I have been working with Thalian Association and The Community Arts Center for the better part of 5 years. I am the Resident Stage Manager for Thalian Association which means I oversee and administrate the tech side of almost every production! I also design lights and sound for shows. I am the recipient of the 2015 Tina Award for Technical Achievement, the 2016 TACT Artistic Directors Award, 2017-18 Winner of Best Lighting Design for the Bridges of Madison County. I can’t wait to meet and have some fun with all the up and coming technicians of Wilmington!
