Meet our AMAZING Summer 2022 Staff!

Stacie Smith – Camp Director / My name is Stacie Smith, and I am so excited to be back at Creative Arts Camp and in a new role! Camp is my favorite place to be during the summer, and I am so excited to see all our favorite campers! I have lots of experience working in the Wilmington Theater Community, both being onstage and behind it. See you all this summer!
Emy Mauney – Instructor, Counselor, Summer Camp Intern / Hello! I am a Junior at UNCW working on a Major in Marketing and a Minor in Digital Art. I have had a passion for arts and crafts dating all the way back to when I could hold my first crayon. I’ve made portraits of people, puppets, costumes, makeup designs, and a million baked goods at this point. My art career has led me to many amazing opportunities such as being here as your Art Teacher!

Logan Hayes – Assistant Camp Director, Instructor, Counselor /  Logan is super excited to be joining the team this summer at Creative Arts Camp! He was born and raised in Wilmington, NC, where he quickly fell in love with the arts in the community. Logan grew up dancing and acting since the age of 4 and is now in his 10th year of teaching dance. You may have seen Logan in many different shows around town with Thalian Association, Opera House Theatre Co. and Snow Productions. The arts is a huge passion of his and he cannot wait to share his love of creativity with everyone this summer.

Courtney Harding – Instructor / Courtney Harding grew up participating in Thalian Association Youth Theatre, and is still an active member in the Wilmington theatre community! She graduated with honors from UNC Charlotte in Theatre Education and a minor in dance. Since graduation, Courtney has been teaching theatre at New Hanover High School by day and performing or working backstage in local theatre by night! This will be Courtney’s 8th summer with Creative Arts Camp and she couldn’t be more excited for another fun summer of theatre!

Bethany Kessinger – Counselor / This is Bethany’s third summer at creative arts camp but she has been involved with Thalian Association since 2016 where she has since done 12 shows with the organization. She is currently a rising senior at UNCG majoring in arts administration with a minor in technical theatre. She is so excited to get creating and having fun at camp!

 

Abigail Billings – Counselor / Abigail is extremely excited to be back at camp for the summer! This is her third summer working with the camp and has been doing shows and camps with Thalian since she was 5. She is a rising sophomore at UofSC where she is double majoring in English and Film and Media Studies and minoring in Journalism/Mass Communications. She can’t wait for another amazing summer!

 

 

Cathy Street – Cathy Street has over 30 years of professional arts experience.  She is founder of Street Theatre Company in Nashville, TN where she also served as Artistic Director for ten years.  Now based in Wilmington, NC, she works with numerous organizations as director, musical director, performer and teaching artist. Some favorite credits include BILLY ELLIOT, DOGFIGHT and MATILDA (Director); LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, JOSEPH…DREAMCOAT, and GODSPELL (Musical Director).  Favorite roles performed include Alison in FUN HOME, Dr. Livingstone in AGNES OF GOD, and Violet in VIOLET. This will be her seventh year working with the BOSS camps and she loves every minute of it!

Lilly Goddard – Instructor & Counselor / Hello!  I am so pumped to be working for the upcoming Creative Arts Camp 2022! I fell in love with dancing and theater when I was 8 years old and always knew this is where I want to be! I have had the opportunity for many roles in the theater community. I have directed, choreographed, and stage managed multiple shows around Wilmington. I will be starting at UNC of Wilmington to further my theater and film education and earn my Bachelors of Arts in Directing! I am currently stage managing Children of Eden Jr with TACT Youth Theatre which was an amazing experience! I am so ecstatic to be working with Thalian Association and am so grateful for the opportunity to spread my love of the arts with everyone this summer!

Susie Lukens – Instructor / Ms. Susie is a return instructor and long-time fan of the Creative Arts Camps and the Thalian Association. She is a Pre-K teacher in New Hanover county, and looks forward to working with the Munchkins this summer as we learn about theater, movement, visual arts, and musical expression. Before she became a teacher, she was an actress and singer in college and high school. Music and theater have always been an important part of how she expresses herself and connects with her family and friends, and she is excited to build those connections with kiddos at Creative Arts Camp this year!

Julia Petersen – Counselor / Julia is very excited to be back at camp for another fun summer! This is her fourth year working, but she has been coming to camp since she was 7 years old. She is a rising sophomore at UNCG with a double major in arts administration and drama. She can’t wait to see everyone once again!

 

 

Sarah Goins – Instructor, Counselor / My name is Sarah Goins! I am a Wilmingtonian! I am married with 3 children and 3 dogs! I have been a Pre-K Teacher’s assistant for 2 1/2 years and I plan Disney vacations! I love teaching children, theater, Harry Potter, and Disney! I am so excited to be part of this year’s Creative Arts summer camps!

Riley Moore – Counselor / Riley is excited to be coming back for the 4th consecutive year! She’s currently a high school senior at New Hanover High School and will be majoring in film making in college. She’s done performances with Thalian Association Community Theatre for nearly a decade and cannot wait to interact with kids who also have a passion for the arts!

Linda Carlisle Markas – Instructor /  is a piano teacher, vocal coach and performer. She has music directed for Thalian Association and TheatreNOW and has performed with many Wilmington theater companies since 1987. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with these talented young performers.

Camps:  High School Musical 2 (Music Director)

Rebekah Carmichael – Instructor / Rebekah Carmichael is a producer, performer and playwright who resides in Wilmington part-time. Prior to the pandemic, she was still somewhat new in town, which made her credits somewhat limited. All in all, she can’t help but be proud of receiving Wilmington Theatre Awards for the 2018 Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Medium Alison in Fun Home and for the 2019 Best Original Production for Oedipus Wrecked which she produced, directed and played a small part in. While she’s been with TACT for a few years now, she was also very happy to have directed Shrek Jr. in 2020. Prior to being in Wilmington, Rebekah has produced and directed immersive theatre in Raleigh and Asheville, performed in the same cities as well as in a variety of straight plays and musicals in Washington DC and New York City.

Benedict Fancy – Instructor / Benedict R. Fancy is a freelance Scenic Designer and the Performing Arts Technical Director at Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, NC. Winner of the 2020 StarNews Media Theatre Award for ‘Best Set Design’, and a four-time nominee over the last five years, Benedict has designed over 80 productions in Wilmington. Teaching ‘Technical Theatre and Design’ at the high school level for the last 14 years, Benedict prides himself on helping shape future designers and stage crew for the collegiate level and beyond. He is thrilled to be returning to the BOSS Camp Scene Shop Summer Camp again this year and can’t wait to start designing and building this years three Boss Camp productions!

Kelsey McCrary – Counselor and Instructor / Hey everyone! I am so excited to be able to spend my third summer in a row with you all! Last year was full of so many fun activities and memories and I can’t wait to see all that this summer has in store for us. I look forward to spending time with each of the kiddos and I just know we are going to have a blast together!

Caleb Hector  – Instructor & Counselor / Hey Everyone! I am very excited to be returning to camp this summer!! This is my fourth year working at Creative Arts Camp, and I love it more each year! I am a rising sophomore at Western Carolina University double majoring in Musical Theatre and English Studies Pedagogy. I also partake in community theatre, last seen in Opera House Theatre Company’s production of Footloose: The Musical. I can’t wait to spend this summer with you all!!

Caleb Hector – Instructor / Randall A. Enlow, Scenic Design, began his theatre career at age six with the Cleveland Play
House. He has designed scenery and lighting for hundreds of productions, musicals, dramas,
comedies, operas and dance. He is always delighted to work with the wonderful creative and
artistic staff of the Thalian Association and the CAC. Rand is Associate Professor, Theatre Design
and Technology at UNCW.

Jr. Counselors

Chandler Wheeler – bio coming soon!
Knox Rapp –  is a rising Sophomore at New Hanover High School. He is  summer camp alumni and participates in TACT Youth productions regularly. This is Knox’s first year as a Jr. Counselor, and he is heavily looking forward to it!

Gracyn Strickland / is so excited to be a Jr. Counselor at the Creative Arts Camp! Gracyn has always enjoyed participating in theatre and working with kids, so the camps will be a delight to be a part of!

 

Nick Steigerwald – Nick Steigerwald is a first time counselor who has worked with TACT for years. He has done several shows such as “Let The Right One In,” “Charlie Brown Christmas,” and his most recent performance, “Children Of Eden.” He has worked as an assistant teacher before in TACT’s classes, so he is very excited to start working as a camp counselor.

 

 

Elayna Feeter – is a rising Junior at Hoggard High School. In her spare time, Elayna loves to perform! Her most recent productions were Matilda (Mrs. Wormwood), Children of Eden (Snake), and Shrek (Donkey).  Elayna loves working with kids of all ages and is excited to help out with the creative arts camps this summer.

Garrett Reider /  is thrilled to be a part of the Jr. Counselor team at the Creative Arts Camp! Garrett has done six of these camps since 2016 and is delighted to be a part of it again.
